Vegetable Oil Market

Castor, Linseed gain; Cottonseed falls

Mixed trend prevailed in the market during the past week
under review. Castor oil was up by around 4%, Linseed oil
gained 2%. Rapeseed oil was up marginally. Groundnut,
Sunfl ower and Sesame oils remained steady. Among imported
oils, RBD palmolein was up by around half a percent, crude
Palm remained down by 2% and crude degummed Soyabean
remained steady. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down
by almost half percent, Rice bran (RG-I) and (RG-II) remained
down by 1.50% each and Neem oil was down by 0.60%.
Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same period
last year, groundnut is cheaper by 8%. Rapeseed is costlier by
22%, while linseed is costlier by 32% and sunfl ower is up by 35%.
Sesame is cheaper by 3% and castor is costlier by 19%, while
cottonseed is costlier by 30%. Neem is cheaper by 2%.
