Vegetable Oil Market

Uptrend in Rapeseed, Sunfl ower and Groundnut

Prices of most local and imported oils moved up during the past
week under review. Rapeseed oil went up by about 6%, while
Sunfl ower and Cottonseed oils gained around 3% each. Groundnut oil
fi rmed up by about 2%. Castor and Sesame oils remained steady,
while Linseed oil slipped by over a percent. Among imported oils,
RBD palmolein and crude Palm was costlier by over 2% and crude
degummed Soyabean was up by over 3%. In solvent extracted oils,
Soyabean gained 5%, and Rice brans were up by over 4%, while
Neem oil remained unmoved. Comparing the prices of some of the
oils over the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 8%.
Rapeseed was up by 43%, linseed was up by 35% and sunfl ower
is costlier by 40%. Sesame is cheaper by 2% and castor is costlier
by 17%, while cottonseed is costlier by 45%. Neem is costlier by
a percent.
