Vegetable Oil Market

Rapeseed and Groundnut gain; Linseed drops

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Rapeseed and Cottonseed oils moved up in the range of
2-3%, while Groundnut oil also gained almost 2%. Linseed oil fell
by over 2%, while Sunfl ower oil was cheaper by about a percent.
Castor and Sesame oils remained steady. Among imported oils,
RBD palmolein gained marginally, while crude Palm was up
by over 2% and crude degummed Soyabean eased down marginally.
In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was up by about 0.50%, while
Rice brans and Neem oil held fi rm. Comparing the prices of some
of the oils over the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by
9%. Rapeseed, linseed and sunfl ower are costlier by 36%. Sesame
is cheaper by 2% and castor is costlier by 17%, while cottonseed
is costlier by 41%. Neem is costlier by a percent.
