Shiva Performance Materials Pvt. Ltd. (SPM) has signed an exclusive technology licensing agreement with Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals Inc., for an advanced resin technology for the toner and imaging industry.
Gujarat-based SPM, a Shiva Group company, produces chemicals like acrylic resins, styrene-maleic anhydride polymers, and UV photoinitiators, and primarily serves the printing and packaging industries.
In a social media post the company said it has “entered into one-time exclusive agreement for the assignment of technical information relating to toner binding resin for specific grades / specifications with Mitsui Chemicals– a globally recognised leader in resins for toner binder used in printer and copier machines”. Toner binders are a key component used in printer and copier toners.
“Through this agreement, Shiva Performance Materials aims to introduce a new range of high performance, eco-friendly, and durable toner binders, designed to meet the evolving needs of the global imaging and printing industry,” the company added.
The agreement is seen as a positive development for the global toner materials supply chain. Following Mitsui Chemicals’ decision to exit toner resin production, the collaboration with Shiva Performance Materials is expected to ensure continuity of supply and the preservation of technical know-how.
