Lanxess has announced the start of local production of fire‑resistant hydraulic fluids (FRHF) at its Jhagadia facility in Gujarat, marking a significant expansion of its manufacturing footprint in India. The move follows the recent inauguration of the plant and aligns with the company’s “local‑for‑local” strategy under the Make in India framework.
With this addition, customers in India, the Middle East and other global markets will gain easier access to Lanxess’ Reolube phosphate ester‑based FRHF portfolio, widely used in applications demanding high levels of operational reliability and fire safety. The company said the localisation initiative leverages its global technology leadership and long-standing expertise in hydraulic fluid solutions.
Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Lubricant Additives Business Unit, noted that local production will enhance customer proximity and supply reliability in a fast‑growing region. He added that the move underscores Lanxess’ confidence in India’s long‑term potential.
The Jhagadia expansion is complemented by the recently opened Application Development Centre in Thane, which provides local technical support and strengthens customer engagement.
