Dutch chemicals distributor, IMCD Group, has modernised its application laboratories for Coatings & Construction and Home Care I&I at BioCampus Cologne, a science and technology park in Germany, in response to “growing demand for hands-on formulation support, technical services, application-oriented training, and close collaboration”.
The Coatings & Construction Application Laboratory, first established in Cologne in 2008, is part of a global network of 14 such facilities with more than 50 technical experts. The upgraded space serves customers in decorative paints, industrial coatings, construction and adhesives, printing inks, and textile and paper products. Mr. Jan Schmitter, Technical Manager Coatings, said the expanded facilities would enable closer collaboration with customers and suppliers and "accelerate time-to-market."
The Home Care I&I Application Laboratory, opened in Cologne in 2016, belongs to a 13-location global network. The upgraded space adds dedicated work areas for laundry care, dishwashing, surface care and cleaning, car care, and air care. Ms. Fanélie Jaeglé, Technical Director Home Care I&I, described the Cologne site as IMCD's Regional Technical Centre for Home Care I&I in Europe, bringing together "formulation development, product performance testing, consulting and training in one location”.
Vietnam expansion
in another development, IMCD has expanded its Ho Chi Minh City office in Vietnam, and also brought its Home Care & I&I and Beauty & Personal Care laboratories under one roof to strengthen collaboration across teams and support integrated customer co-development.
The expansion follows IMCD Vietnam’s tenth anniversary last year and was described in a asocial media post as reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to deepening technical expertise and customer partnerships across life science and industrial applications in the country.
Mr. Huu Nguyen (Andy), General Manager of IMCD Vietnam, said the new office represents more than a physical expansion, as it reflects how far the team has come and where the business is heading. By bringing people and laboratories closer together, the company is creating a more connected and agile environment to better serve customers and accelerate co-creation across all its segments in Vietnam, he added.
