A start-up from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, HydroCawach Technologies Pvt. Ltd., has signed an agreement with Venture Center, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune, for the Cummins Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) grant.

The aim of the project is to deploy and validate a novel water disinfecting, no-maintenance attachment for ‘India Mark II Handpumps’, benefiting rural communities across India. The device can be retrofitted in existing handpumps and it doesn’t require chemicals or electricity to operate.

This innovation behind the device stems from the research work of Dr. Aniruddha Pandit, Vice Chancellor, ICT, Mumbai, and Dr. Nilesh L Jadhav, Founder Director, HydroCawach Technology, and promises to provide clean and safe drinking water for people in rural India.
