Caldic to distribute Sarex's UV absorbers in Europe

Caldic, the Dutch distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients for food, personal care and pharmaceutical markets, has expanded its partnership with Sarex Overseas, a Mumbai-based manufacturer of fine chemicals, triazine based UV absorbers and API intermediates.

Building on its collaboration in Asia Pacific, Sarex has appointed Caldic Europe as its exclusive distribution partner for triazine-based UV absorbers. Caldic will hold exclusive rights to distribute two REACH-registered Sarex products in Europe including Apollo 1164 (for polyolefin applications, especially in agricultural films) and Apollo 1577 (a light stabiliser for use in polycarbonate and polyethylene terephthalate systems).

The extended agreement covers European regions including Benelux, DACH, France, Nordics, and the UK, and marks a significant expansion of Caldic's polymer additives portfolio through the introduction of this UV protection technology.

According to Sarex, its triazine-based UV absorbers offer low-volatility solutions that remain stable even under elevated processing temperatures. These products are widely used in industrial polymers and coatings where they improve UV resistance, durability, and colour retention. "Commonly used UV absorbers such as benzotriazoles (BZT) are under increasing regulatory pressure from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) due to environmental and health concerns. Triazine-based UV absorbers present a compelling alternative, with strong technical performance and greater regulatory acceptance in key applications," it added.

"As regulatory pressure mounts on traditional chemistries, our technology provides a sustainable, high-performance alternative. From an environmental perspective, triazines are generally considered less persistent and less toxic to aquatic organisms, compared to benzotriazoles, making them a more eco-conscious choice for manufacturers aiming to reduce their environmental footprint," said Mr. Ashok Saraf, Managing Director of Sarex Overseas.
