Surat-based speciality chemicals firm, Anupam Rasayan India Ltd., said it has become the first company worldwide to manufacture ethyl trifluoroacetate (ETFA) at commercial scale using continuous flow chemistry, through its proprietary process-by-design platform.
ETFA is a fluorinated building block and reagent used in the synthesis of organic fluorine compounds across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and performance materials. The global addressable market for the compound is estimated at $500–600-mn.
The company said the continuous flow platform offers advantages over conventional batch processes including enhanced process safety, improved reproducibility, greater scalability, higher operational efficiency, and a lower environmental footprint.
Mr. Anand Desai, Managing Director of Anupam Rasayan, said the commercialisation demonstrated the company's capabilities in complex fluorination chemistry and its ability to develop and scale differentiated manufacturing solutions.
Anupam Rasayan operates eight manufacturing facilities — four at Sachin, Surat, and two at Jhagadia, Bharuch — with an aggregate installed capacity of approximately 30,000-mt, along with two facilities in the US through subsidiary Jayhawk Fine Chemicals with a further 36,000-mt of capacity as of March 31, 2026.
